Hi, I’m Simon Thomas, the founder of Optimus Team Learning based in North Yorkshire (UK), and I’d like to welcome you to my website.
In 2014 I created this training business in response to a key challenge facing organisations today. Teams are having to be formed, re-shaped and dismantled at a very fast rate. People within these teams no longer have 12-18 months to become proficient in their roles and to build strong working relationships. Organisations need :
- People who can build effective relationships with team members quickly
- Individuals and teams who are more resilient to change, able to be productive in a changing workplace
- Wellbeing culture that supports employees to be at their brilliant best

Simon first joined the retail sector in 1995, building his early experience within Operations for Sainsbury’s, Marks & Spencer and Christian Salvesen Logistics. In 1998 Simon joined the Asda Supply Chain and led numerous teams across Food and General Merchandise to deliver world-class availability for customers. From the buzz of successfully recruiting, leading and growing his people, he discovered his passion for training and became an Asda Skills Development Tutor in 2010. Simon moved into Senior Projects and Store Format Development roles in 2011, and continued to shape and deliver game-changing L&D programmes across Asda. He qualified with a Certificate in Human Resource Development From the CIPD (Level 7) in 2013 and continues to love his vocation.
Simon’s qualifications cover Learning & Development, Hypnotherapy, NLP, Stress Management, Mental Health First Aid, Coaching, Lumina Practitioner, Heartstyles Practitioner, British Cycling Ride Leader & First Aid. DBS Checked.
